die Koffer sind gepackt, der Kühlschrank ist leer – wir sind startklar! Die Katzensitter waren auch schon kurz da, um letzte Details zu besprechen. Morgen übernehmen sie dann offiziell den Dienst.

Beim Sortieren von Kleidung und Schuhen ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich fast vergessen hätte, auch an meine Häkelprojekte zu denken.
While sorting through clothes and shoes, I suddenly realized I had almost forgotten about my crochet projects.
Ich habe wirklich lange überlegt – das Okapi mitzunehmen wäre zu aufwändig und außerdem nicht mehr spannend genug für drei Wochen. Ein neues Projekt will ich auch nicht beginnen, sonst bin ich mehr im Projekt als im Urlaub. Und dann… hat mich Balinda mit ihren traurigen Dino-Augen angesehen!
I really struggled with the decision – taking the okapi would be too much effort and no longer exciting enough for three weeks. And I don’t want to start a new project either, or I’ll end up focusing more on crafting than on vacation. And then… Balinda looked at me with those sad dino eyes!
Fast hätte ich die Reise-Dino-Dame vergessen! Und wie Claudia so schön sagte: Dinos sind Rudeltiere! Nachdem Balinda schon drei Dino-Kollegen hat verschwinden sehen, wird es wirklich Zeit für einen festen Reisegefährten.
I almost forgot the travel dino lady! And as Claudia nicely put it: dinosaurs are pack animals! Since Balinda has already seen three of her dino buddies disappear, it’s high time she gets a permanent travel companion.
Kurz: Ich habe genug Wolle dabei für ein oder zwei Dinos. Und falls es richtig langweilig wird – vielleicht häkle ich sogar noch einen Spüllappen. 😅😂
In short: I’ve packed enough yarn for one or two more dinos. And if boredom strikes – maybe I’ll even crochet a dishcloth. 😅😂
Man merkt inzwischen, wie routiniert wir beim Packen geworden sind – und wie entspannt wir inzwischen mit dem ganzen Reisestress umgehen. Selbst die Flugangst ist nicht mehr ganz so schlimm wie früher. Wenn wir was vergessen haben – kein Problem. Zur Not kaufen wir es eben unterwegs. Wir sind ja nicht am Ende der Welt. 😉
By now, you can really tell how routine our packing has become – and how relaxed we’ve gotten about all the travel stress. Even the fear of flying isn’t as bad as it used to be. If we forget something – no big deal. We’ll just buy it along the way. It’s not like we’re going to the ends of the earth. 😉
Morgen früh geht es erstmal mit dem ICE nach Frankfurt und am Nachmittag dann weiter mit der 747-400 nach Vancouver.
Tomorrow morning we’ll first take the ICE train to Frankfurt and in the afternoon we’ll board a 747-400 headed for Vancouver.
Ich werde dann berichten, wie sich die graue Theorie in der Praxis anfühlt. Bis dahin: alles Liebe!
